May - Jim Hanley Mini Forest Design Presentation and Workshop

Jim Hanley will be our visiting bonsai artist for our May 10th meeting. Jim will be giving a short presentation on bonsai forests and his thoughts on creating small easily manageable bonsai forests.

Jim will be bringing one of his root clinging rock bonsai created last year for members to see and members who participated in last year’s workshop are encouraged to bring theirs for some follow-up advice.

Jim is also offering a miniature forest bonsai workshop. The workshop will include 5 one year old trees grown especially to keep them small, pot, soil, tie-downs, muck, and moss. The workshop is limited to 4 Seiryu Maple participants , 4 Red maple, participants and 4 Catlyn Elm participants.  Participants can choose their variety of trees at registration. The cost is $65 to register up to a week in advance. If some spots are still open they can be registered that day…
